Roedd ‘Mudiad Addysg Grefyddol Cymru’ (MAGC) yn elusen a fu yn weithredol yng Nghymru rhwng 1965 a 2024, tan i’r ymddiriedolwyr gytuno ei bod yn adeg priodol i ddod â gwaith yr elusen i ben. Enw gwreiddiol yr elusen oedd ‘Mudiad Addysg Gristnogol Cymru’. Hyd at y blynyddoedd diweddar roedd Awdurdodau Lleol Cymru yn ariannu gwaith MAGC.
Prif nodau y Mudiad oedd hyrwyddo a datblygu addysg Gristnogol ac addysg yn y credoau eraill, â’u hoblygiadau yng Nghymru, gyda’r pwyslais ar y cyfleoedd sydd ar gael i blant a phobl ifanc, ynghyd â phawb a wnelo â’u datblygiad, gan roi sylw arbennig i draddodiadau ac ieithoedd yng Nghymru. Mae MAGC wedi cynnig cefnogaeth ac adnoddau i rai sy’n gweithio ym myd addysg grefyddol a datblygiad ysbrydol oddi fewn i’r ysgolion. Gwnaed hyn er mwyn cynnwys y ffydd Gristnogol a gwerthoedd credoau eraill ym mhob agwedd o’r gwaith. Rhan o’r gefnogaeth ymarferol hyn oedd cyhoeddi ‘Syniadau AG’ yn dymhorol am dros 20 mlynedd, ynghyd â chyhoeddi nifer o lyfrau adnoddau cynradd ac uwchradd ym maes Addysg Grefyddol.
Bu i MAGC hefyd noddi cyhoeddi dros 300 o wasanaethau ysgol ac mae rhai ar gael o wefan www.assemblies.org.uk/cymru. Cyhoeddwyd cyfrol o hanes MAGC yn 2017 yn dwyn y teitl “Hyrwyddo Crefydd: Hanes MAGC 1965-2015”.
Wrth ddirwyn yr elusen i ben fe drosglwyddwyd yr asedau i ofal elusen ‘Cyngor Ysgolion Sul ac Addysg Gristnogol Cymru’, a hwy erbyn hyn sy’n gofalu a chynnal yr adnoddau ar eu gwefan hwythau. Mae’r holl adnoddau sydd ar y wefan hon ar gael i ysgolion ac eglwysi yn rhad ac am ddim i’w lawrlwytho.
‘Religious Education Movement Wales’ (REMW) was a charity that was active in Wales between 1965 and 2024, until the trustees agreed that it was an appropriate time to end the charity’s work. The charity’s original name was the ‘Christian Education Movement Wales’. Until recent years the Welsh Local Authorities funded the work of REMW.
The main aims of the charity were to promote and develop Christian education and education in the other faiths, with it’s implications within Wales, with the emphasis on the opportunities available to children and young people, together with everyone involved in their development, paying particular attention to traditions and languages in Wales. REMW has offered support and resources to those who work in the world of religious education and spiritual development within the schools. This was done in order to include the Christian faith and the values of other beliefs in all aspects of the work. Part of this practical support was the publication of ‘RE Ideas’ quarterly for over 20 years, together with the publication of a number of primary and secondary resource books in the field of Religious Education.
REMW also sponsored the publication of over 300 school assemblies and are available through the www.assemblies.org.uk/cymru website. A book of REMW’s history was published in 2017 entitled “Encouraging Religion: a History of the Christian/Religious Education Movement Wales, 1965–2015”.
When winding up the charity, the assets were transferred to another charity which had the same objectives as REMW, being the ‘Council for Sunday Schools and Christian Education in Wales’, and they now maintain the REMW resources on their website. All the resources on this website are available to schools and churches to download free of charge.
